Covid-19 Meal Distribution and Restaurant Stabilization Initiative #FilipinosFeedTheFrontlines Expands to Service Stockton Communities
Stockton businesses ensure food relief for communities disproportionately impacted by Covid-19.

STOCKTON, CA - December 2, 2020 - Filipinos Feed The Frontlines — a meal distribution & restaurant stabilization initiative by Kultivate Labs — is expanding to service frontline and essential workers in impacted Stockton communities beginning December 7, 2021. The campaign will be partnering with Little Manila Rising, Papa Urb’s Grill, and Island Gourmet to deliver meals in response to the Covid-19 pandemic to the disproportionately impacted communities of Stockton. A recent CNN report revealed that, despite only comprising 4% of the nursing population nationwide, nearly a third of the nurses who’ve died of Covid-19 are Filipino.
Filipinos Feed The Frontlines will provide meals to the San Joaquin General and St. Joseph’s hospitals, La Salette Rehabilitation Center, and other living centers and convalescent homes, while simultaneously revitalizing and providing financial relief to restaurants.
“We have been blessed with some amazing customers, and organizations like Little Manila Rising to help keep us afloat during these tough times,” shared Papa Urb’s Grill co-founder, Alex Urbano, “We are super grateful to be a part of this program, and hope we can help take it to the next level. Providing great meals, and momentum towards continued aid for other businesses...We’re all affected by COVID 19 one way or another.”
With founding operations in San Francisco’s Filipino Cultural District SOMA Pilipinas and recently expanding to Los Angeles’s Historic Filipinotown, the campaign has so far raised over $110,000 supporting over a dozen restaurants, and donated 11,579 meals to healthcare workers, seniors, low-income families, frontline workers, and others in need.
Hannah Divino of Little Manila Rising will oversee #FilipinosFeedTheFrontlines operations in Stockton and the city’s Filipino cultural districts.
“My hope is that this is just the beginning of a strong collaboration between local non-profits, restaurants, hospitals and nursing facilities that are working towards building a culture of community, gratitude & giving,” shared Hannah Divino, Holistic Health Director of Little Manila Rising, ”Beyond the program, I look forward to seeing continued, collective efforts to heal and uplift our Filipino community in Stockton which was historically home to the largest population of Filipinos outside of the Philippines.”
This expansion serves to further Kultivate Labs’ mission of healing, nourishing, and stabilizing disproportionately affected Filipina/x/o and other BIPOC communities. Filipinos Feed The Frontlines will continue to serve the Stockton area and is currently looking for donations and volunteers.
