I’ve been blessed to have two people join PapaLoDown within one year of being in business… I knew there was a need for this work, and the saying “if you build it, they will come”, stands true! I’m very proud to announce the most recent addition to the team… Andria Bell!

TO ‘MY PEOPLES’
Group Announces New Name, Upcoming Albums, and Release Party

San Francisco, CA, (April 21, 2010) – “Kapakahi”, the multi-ethnic band which coined the term “urban aloha” to describe their fresh fusion of reggae, ska, hip-hop, and funk, will transition to the name: “My Peoples”, and release the EP “Back2Roots” this spring. They will officially perform under the new name at their album release party on Friday, April 30^th, 9:00 p.m., at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco.  The group hopes to reach a larger audience, while embracing their already loyal following.  The new name captures their vision to create an environment for people to experience the positivity within music.

This coming summer, the band will release their self-titled album, “My Peoples”, a full-band EP, which will incorporate a new electric blend alongside their signature reggae/rock/hip hop sound.  Both albums will be available for digital download at all major retailers, and on the band website. I’ve been super busy.  In between gearing up for the 3rd Annual Estria Invitational Graffiti Battle, scouting locations in San Jose for MADE Jewelry, and training as a high school speaker for FIDM, I’ve also been plotting on getting this workshop in Sacramento locked down.

I’m really excited to teach this workshop in a city bursting with talent.  Some of you may know that Ruby and Dahlak are from Sacramento, AND happens to be the city iLL-Literacy recorded the majority of their album iB41 before they moved to NY.  There are so many more designers, DJ’s, producers, emcees, dancers, make-up artists, hair stylists, and all around dope.talented.creative souls in this city, I had to come through and support.

Whew! I stayed up till 3am last night, (haven’t had one of those in a while…)! Finalizing the promo material for PapaLoDown, and now I want YOU to be filled in on all the exciting projects and adventures coming ahead as we end the year of “shine in 09″!

Just to fill you in, I quit my day job and legally licensed my business, it’s official! I’ll forreals be an independent hustler now, and I’m excited to finally let go of my security blanket of a steady paycheck to maximize my full potential as an entrepreneur.

Hello World,

Ok, gonna keep this short and sweet… I’ve been keeping a low profile lately, which has allowed me to get some personal things in order, and also reflect on what I’m doing with Papa Lo Down, and my career in general.

Basically, I’ll be keeping a low profile until I get a new laptop!!! HA!  I’m also doing research on the history of Public Relations (ya’ll ain’t even knowin the fucked up shit PR was founded on!), and brainstorming what the PR/Marketing workshops I’m putting together will look like.   Who wants to sign up for my workshop?!!!

In other news, I’ve realized that this blog has veered off course and I have not been staying true to the goals I set.  Soooo… you can expect LESS promotional content and MORE learning tools and lessons, as I had originally planned to use this space for.  I will however continue to support and promote dope music, events, and general info on twitter, yay! –
