Department Seventeen is a shop for that cool creative man with an appreciation for refined clothing.
For Daniel (an MBA graduate), Adrian (a city planner), and Nelson (a graphic designer) creating Department Seventeen was a giant leap of faith. With no formal education in fashion or previous retail experience, these three owners are bringing urban sharpness to San Francisco.
“Opening a store was scary, but once the momentum kicked in we just couldn’t stop,” says Nelson. Learning from their everyday experiences and unafraid to experiment, these guys are trailblazers in men’s fashion. “We don’t have to give into a system. We can stand out by doing things our way,” says Nelson.
Two years later, and Department Seventeen is still thriving. Utilizing the power of social media to show the world what they have to offer, they are able to focus their finances into their products.
By constantly updating their inventory, the addition of online shopping, and the new move to Hayes Valley, Department Seventeen is going strong with no signs of stopping.
Carrying brands like Outlier, Kitsuné, and Industry of All Nations, Department Seventeen prides itself on carrying the highest quality of clothes, and they have taken this philosophy into their own brand.
The Department Seventeen label combines New York enthusiasm with Japanese construction. Made from all Japanese fabrics, you can be certain that when you buy Department Seventeen you will be adding pieces that will last a lifetime.
With Adrian at the reins of the design and Nelson and Daniel selecting the fabrics, these guys present products that speak to other men. “Men have a different perspective on clothes. When we shop we really look at the details, and we bring products that guys will geek out over,” says Nelson.
So if you find yourself in Hayes Valley and in the mood for some great shopping, head on over to Department Seventeen, or shop online at www.dept17.com
