TopShelf Boutique

TopShelf Boutique is truly a one of a kind fashion experience.  Christina Ruiz is the mastermind behind San Francisco’s first fashion truck.

Christina was taught from an early age to bargain, work hard, and to never take no for an answer. A graduate from FIDM, Christina worked as a buyer at Macy’s, but realized that the 9-5 life wasn’t really her style. “I knew [the 9-5 life wasn’t for me] when I dreaded going to work every day; I always knew I wanted to open my own store with my own style, and I wanted to bring that here.”

So when it came time to open up her business, she knew San Francisco was the city for her. “I knew this was the perfect place because New York and L.A. are over saturated markets, and San Francisco style is a little bit undertoned and could use a little more edge. So if there was ever a place to push the limit is would be here.”

When you shop at TopShelf, you get a unique boutique experience in which you find racks of casually sexy clothes with a vintage feel, but incorporate current trends and bright colors. “My business isn’t brand name focused, just style focused.” Christina scours the land to find the best fashion and accessories.  From tradeshows to LA’s wholesale district,  TopShelf is true to its name, offering high quality boutique clothing without the boutique price tag.

Not only does Christina look for fabulously affordable fashion, but she also focuses on supporting the local economy. “Whenever I go on my buying trip,  I always try to look for things that are US made, and what I have found is that a lot of the LA designs are made in LA. Also the price points are not that much higher than the clothes made in China.”

So when you shop at TopShelf you can take pride in the fact that you are saving our economy, and President Obama should be sending you a Thank You letter.

TopShelf isn’t just the name of Christina’s boutique, it’s her lifestyle. By day Christina is boutique owning fashionista, but by night she is serving up “TopShelf” drinks at Bloodhound in SoMa and Double Dutch in the Mission. You can catch her at Bloodhound Wednesday and Thursday nights, and at Double Dutch on the occasional Saturday.

So if you are looking for some funky fresh pieces to jazz up your wardrobe, go pay TopShelf Boutique a visit!
