On The Right Track…

Feb 20, 2009

We’re in the second month of 2009, life is good.  I’m at my maximum capacity now, with projects, clients, family, personal time, etc.  Back on the board finding balance, I won’t fall, it’s not an option.

I’m proud of myself for working towards all of my goals, being strategic, having faith, and letting my instincts guide me.

The (active) PapaLoDown client roster looks real nice right now:

People Power Tour (Kiwi & Geo)
Estria Miyashiro (Graffiti Artist/Muralist)
Devil’s Pie (DJ Phatrick)
iLL-Literacy & Ruby

It’s a nice mix of different artists, projects, causes, and styles…I’m having fun with all of it!  I’m even back in the classroom as a student, taking a Filipino History class for personal research, as well as to understand the People Power Tour more fully, and be a better publicist for that particular project.  I think it’s important to understand your clients, and what they represent in order to do the job to your best ability, so learning and challenging myself is a constant in this career.

I also went to a Hip Hop workshop a few weeks ago, which provided history and background on Graffiti, perfect timing to get that info, now that i’m working with Estria.  I even wrote my first lil rhyme! (which no one will ever hear again!)

Workshops have taken a large majority of my time recently, from meditation retreats to the monthly training sessions for a youth mentoring program I joined last year, I’m learning a lot about myself, and how I want to shape my life, the people that I want to surround me, and what I have to keep working on… progress is inevitable.

This year, I’ve realized my path will take a slight detour out of the entertainment industry… I’m excited about taking my career into the classroom!  Educating and inspiring young adults about the field of public relations is something I’ve been wanting to do, and it’s all coming to fruition, doors are opening easily, I know I’m on the right track…
