Final Thoughts In 08…

It’s been a great year! I feel like I’ve had more cake this year with the mantra of ”cake in 08″ and all the Devil’s Pie treats, than any other year… and now I can say “I’ve had my cake, and ate it too”! I have a lot of great things planned for 2009, an amazing client roster, and new adventures are on the horizon…
I wanted to take this time to share some thoughts for folks needing guidance on their career/life. Not that I’m an expert or anything, but I’ve become a mentor over the years to some folks, and lately with Papa Lo Down, I’ve been getting emails asking for advice. I’m flattered and humbled that my opinion might help someone with their own personal legend, and wanted to share an email I recently sent out, perhaps these words of inspiration will be of use to others.
This (edited) response is to someone that recently emailed me, who isn’t sure what the next steps for their career should be:
My advice would be to listen to what you already know is the best thing to do… Meaning, listen to your instincts and pay attention to the signs that will help lead you in the right direction. It looks like you’re already on the right path, and there are definitely a lot of young men and women that need your energy and strength, so it’s up to you! Where do you want to take it? How far do you want to go? How big do you want to dream? So really, I’ll pose the question back to you… and ask that you have faith, that whatever you decide, it’s always the right choice for that moment in your life.
So there you have it! Don’t be scurred! Take a risk! LISTEN to what you already know is the right thing to do… There is a new year ahead of us, and it’s an exciting time to be alive! Take the time to reflect on your achievements and dream big for the future…
