I heart Slug

Atmosphere came to SF to promote the new album “When Life Gives You Lemons You Paint That Shit Gold” a few weeks ago, so this post is a lil dated but like their music, the message I wanted to relay is timeless.

So yeah, I’m an Atmosphere fan… and proud of it! I didn’t realize so many people didn’t like them until recently, but I’m not going to go off on a rant about that… I’ve seen Slug get down three times now and I think he’s a dope performer, he knows how to get the crowd hyped and really understands the importance of interacting with fans. So even if you don’t like the music, I suggest you watch a show for homework and take notes on how a well rounded emcee rocks the crowd!

Overall I dig what the Rhymesayers label has accomplished as independent artists, and of course I peeped the scene to see what I could bring back to the Papa Lo-Down and caught this ingenious display at the merch table.

The Rhymesayers merch crew created a banner by photocopying all the albums in the catalogue, front and back, to use as display, S.M.A.R.T! For all of you artists well versed in merch table presentation it’s a constant battle to make sure you have enough copies on display and that no one takes them while you’re signing an autograph. It’s a simple and clean display, and another reason why I will continue to keep my eyes on Slug, even if he makes crazy faces…
