The Bay

Living in NY from 03-05 was the best decision I made for myself, and as much as I HEART NY (and will always call it home), the Bay is where I was born and raised, and where I’ve planted roots for a succesful future. I moved back with passion, purpose, and a New York state of mind.

I’m just getting started… trust.

This edition of “Spread Love” I want to highlight fresh, innovative, and insightful media outlets that represent Hip Hop in the Bay Area with an open mind, and unfortunately the rest of the world is sleepin… but don’t worry, I got you! and it won’t be long till we’re all gettin sprinkled with game.

Until then you should save these sites as a favorite and check back at least once a week to see what The Bay Hip Hop community has been working on. (just a few to get you started):

Distortion 2 Static – A Hip Hop television show that airs across the Bay Area on TV20. The show strives to educate, inspire and motivate, but most of all to provide accurate historical documentation of Hip Hop culture(through the eyes of the Bay) for future generations.

Hard Knock Radio – Hard Knock Radio is 94.1 FM KPFA’s daily drivetime Hip Hop Talk Show. It features hosts Davey D, Weyland Southon, and Anita Johnson who hit the air everyday at 4pm offering news, views, breaks, and beats.

Stash Magazine – A free, pocket-sized, bi-monthly publication dedicated to entertain and educate the masses about the culture, politics, news, music, business & lifestyle of the thriving Hip-Hop culture.

Oh Dang! – an independent webzine serving as an outlet and voice for today’s urban culture. With a focus on arts, lifestyle and (sub)culture, combined with commentary and personal narratives.

Myx TV – The only music lifestyle channel embracing the entire Asian American community through music, culture and entertainment. MYX is a nationally-distributed television channel focusing on the influential (Asian American) youth community and a broader audience hungry for music fusion.

Socialush - Covering the Bay Area nightlife and Music scene through exclusive videos and interviews.
